Simulator

For the training of private and commercial airplane pilots, Kyiv University of Aviation and Information Technologies uses the ALSIM ALX simulator.

The procedural simulator is designed for initial and recurrent training of airplane pilots and allows the development of both Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) skills, as well as crew coordination in multi-crew operations (MCC). On the simulator, pilots can practice procedures such as engine start and warm-up, engine and aircraft systems shutdown, normal and emergency in-flight procedures, as well as emergency procedures on the ground.

The simulator equipment supports training for four aircraft classes: Single Engine Piston with Analog & Glass, Multi-Engine Piston, Light Turboprop, Light Jet, and Medium Jet.

The simulator fully complies with EASA requirements (FNPT II MCC).

Structurally, the simulator is a mock-up of an aircraft cockpit with pilot workstations, controls, and an instrument panel that replicate a real aircraft. The flight and navigation equipment is built on the “glass cockpit” principle and is based on the EFIS Garmin 1000 system.
The visual system consists of a screen and three projectors, providing a 180° horizontal and 35° vertical field of view.

The visual system accurately simulates the Earth’s surface and atmospheric conditions, allowing pilots to practice visual maneuvers, low-visibility flights, and transitions from visual flight to instrument flight.

According to PART-FCL 1 requirements, practical (flight) training is permitted on the FNPT II procedural simulator (simulator training time counts toward total flight hours) under the following training programs:

  • PPL (A) – up to 5:00 hours;
  • CPL (A) – up to 5:00 hours;
  • CPL (A) / IR – up to 40 hours;
  • IR (A) – up to 35 hours (SEP) and up to 40 hours (MEP); MCC – 20 hours.
