Doctoral Studies

Individuals who hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree (Candidate of Sciences), have significant scientific achievements that require completion or formalization in the form of a dissertation (scientific report), and possess at least half of the number of scientific publications required by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES), published in recognized scientific journals in the relevant research field, and who are capable of conducting high-level fundamental, exploratory, and applied research, may be admitted to doctoral studies.

Kyiv University of Aviation and Information Technologies (KUAIT) offers admission to the doctoral program for candidates pursuing the Doctor of Sciences degree in the specialty 25.00.02 – Mechanisms of Public Administration.

The duration of doctoral studies aimed at obtaining the Doctor of Sciences degree is two years and concludes with the defense of a dissertation before a specialized academic council.

Training for the Doctor of Sciences degree at KUAIT is conducted in the full-time (daytime) study format.

Admission to the doctoral program is carried out on a contractual basis, funded by legal entities or individuals.

Required Documents for Admission

  • Application form;
  • Personal record sheet (curriculum vitae);
  • List of published scientific papers and inventions (according to the established form, indicating professional journals in the research field of the proposed dissertation);
  • Copy of passport;
  • Copy of higher education diploma (Specialist or Master’s degree) indicating qualification (for applicants educated abroad – a copy of the diploma nostrification document);
  • Copy of the PhD diploma / Candidate of Sciences diploma (for foreign degrees – a copy of the nostrification document);
  • Copy of the academic title certificate of Associate Professor, Professor, Senior Researcher, or equivalent (if available);
  • Copy of the taxpayer registration card (TIN);
  • Four photographs, size 3×4 cm;
  • A detailed research proposal containing the research plan and/or information about the amount of work needed to complete the dissertation, as well as copies of scientific publications related to the dissertation topic;
  • A written recommendation describing the applicant’s scientific activity, prepared by a Doctor of Sciences who is a full-time faculty member or researcher at KUAIT and agrees to act as a scientific advisor upon the applicant’s admission;
  • Copy of the military registration document, in accordance with paragraph 20 of the Regulations on the Organization and Maintenance of Military Records of Conscripts, Reservists, and Military Personnel (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1487, December 30, 2022) — for male applicants;
  • Copy of the employment record book (if available);
  • Certificate of employment (if applicable);
  • Medical certificate for applicants with special needs (optional).

Application and Enrollment Process

The applicant’s documents are forwarded to the relevant academic department, which, within one month of the application registration date, reviews the submitted materials, listens to the applicant’s scientific report, and, based on the discussion, votes to determine the eligibility of the applicant for admission to the doctoral program.

Following a positive decision, the department submits a recommendation to the Academic Council regarding the applicant’s enrollment and proposes a scientific advisor from among the KUAIT faculty or research staff holding a Doctor of Sciences degree and appropriate academic qualifications.

Admission for Ukrainian citizens to the Doctor of Sciences program at KUAIT is carried out on a contractual basis, funded by individuals and/or legal entities.
